Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Safdie Architects designed the Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore bay. It is a 10 million ft2, $5.7 billion gateway to the city and a modern architectural wonder. The three columns of the 2,561-room hotel are flanked by a shopping center on one side, and a museum and convention center on the other. The complex also includes theaters and a casino.

The hotel towers curve into each other to open up interesting lobby spaces between. The world's largest cantilevered platform crowns the top of the towers, and provides a fascinating space reminiscent of the top of the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. The Art & Science museum splays open like a cracked fruit. Floating pavilions and a large ice skating rink bring unprecedented luxury.
